TK Ranch Natural Pasture Raised Lamb Pricing
Our grass-fed lamb is raised outside in large pastures without the use of antibiotics, artificial growth hormones, animal by-products or chemical insecticides. IT IS NOT FEEDLOT FINISHED on grain as most lamb is in Alberta. Our lamb is mild flavoured and excellent in quality. All animals are processed in a provincially inspected facility. All product is vacuum packaged and frozen.
Lamb is quickly becoming a specialty product in Alberta. There are not enough lambs in Alberta to meet the market demand, whether a producer is conventional, natural or organic. As such we are experiencing a severe shortage in product. We have 110 ewes on TK Ranch, and have interviewed and added two additional small family farms to our production. All of us are lambing in the spring and it will take several months to properly grass finish our lambs for market. We anticipate having more lamb in stock in the late fall. PLEASE NOTE: In 2011 almost all of the lambs destined for our program received antibiotics and were disqualified. Without treatment our lamb crop would have died so we had no other options. Unfortunately when we looked for other lambs in the marketplace virtually all that were available had already received chemical insecticides and were being fed grain with ionophores (antibiotics that prevent acidosis) added to it. Both of these are not allowable in our program. As a result of this we are out of stock on lamb until next winter when this year's lamb crop will be finished.
