Another Bump in the Road....

We were notified by our courier last week that they will no longer be offering third party delivery services after January 24. We've tried a lot of couriers over the years and we're tired of having to change every few months when problems like late deliveries or thawed orders occur. We need a courier that offers same day refrigerated residential delivery and that's just not currently available in the marketplace. After a lot of consideration we've decided to do most of the deliveries in-house to alleviate these issues. 

Since we made this decision we've been busy looking for drivers, purchasing delivery vans, researching delivery routing software, establishing delivery routes, determining delivery fees and updating our website. Our plan is to have two drivers, one for the Calgary region and one for the Edmonton region. Only having two drivers means we have to spread out deliveries over several days. We've updated our delivery routes and fees, please scroll to the bottom of this page to see what route you're on. ORDER DEADLINE

We're a small company with limited staff. This means we have to organize order fulfilment carefully to ensure we can meet our weekly delivery commitments. For this reason, we have an order deadline of Sunday for home delivery the following week or any order changes (additions, deletions, etc). For example, if you place an order on Saturday, it will be delivered the following week on one of our regularly scheduled delivery days. If you miss the order deadline and place an order on Monday, it will not be delivered that week, but pushed back to the next week. Some people have suggested that we leave orders open and not have an order deadline, but we're not Amazon. Our order volumes can't support staff working 24/7, instead we'd rather put reasonable systems in place that meet the needs of both our customers and our staff.

DELIVERY TIME

As of January 26 we will be doing almost all of the deliveries in-house with the exception of communities located east on Highway 1 and south of Aldersyde to Lethbridge. We will be using routing software for deliveries we so hope to incorporate approximate delivery times delivered via text. But that is in flux at the moment as we figure everything out. We're a small company and will only have 2 drivers on staff, one that will deliver in the Calgary region and one that will deliver part-time in the Edmonton region. They will share deliveries along the Hwy 2 corridor between Airdrie and Leduc. Only having 2 drivers means that we have to spread deliveries out over several days. Our goal is to have deliveries made during regular business hours. 

WHAT ABOUT FREE DELIVERY?

Some people ask why we don't offer free delivery and the answer is simple, it's to control our prices. Please understand that not everything is created equal, while others in the marketplace may seem to be offering a similar product for a lower price, it's essential you do your homework to ensure you're comparing apples to apples. It costs a great deal to raise our livestock to the highest pasture based animal welfare standards in North America. Not to mention having our own on-farm government inspected abattoir and processing facilities. For these reasons our program stands alone in the marketplace. There are also some companies that are less than transparent when it comes to their pricing. Instead of listing a price, they have a complicated points system that effectively hides it. We used to supply one of these companies and they marked up our products 250%. Sadly, most consumers don't realize this and fall for the offer of "free" home delivery when in reality there's no free lunch.
