Merchandise Availability: Keeping all of our products in stock can sometimes be challenging as a small business. We only harvest a small number of animals every week which means some items are always in short supply, like our very popular grass-fed and finished beef tenderloin. It only accounts for 1.7% of a carcass so there’s not a lot available. We can’t harvest more beef just because we’re out of stock on items like this, we have to sell all of the cuts, nose to tail, to make ends meet. How does this affect your order? On a rare occasion our inventory numbers are incorrect causing us to be out of stock on an item. If we short your order you won’t be charged for the missing item. This is why we don’t charge your credit card until after we’ve actually packaged and boxed your order in our facility prior to delivery. If we need to edit your order you’ll receive an updated invoice with your new total when we charge your card. This usually happens a day or so before delivery.
Demand for our ethically raised products is growing. This is a good news story, but there are some important considerations to understand. It takes almost twice the time to raise our livestock when compared to those finished on a mass scale in confinement barns or feedlots. This means we have a limited amount of animals finished at any given time. If our sales increase dramatically, like what happened at the beginning of the pandemic, we don’t have an unlimited supply to fill that kind of demand. Mainstream butcher shops and grocery stores buy their meat from mega processors like Cargill, Olymel and Lilydale who process thousands of animals every day. These retailers don’t have to worry about selling nose to tail because they can buy whatever they want in unlimited quantities. We won’t compromise animal welfare, environmental sustainability or quality just to make a sale. So if we’re out of stock on a particular item please be patient. We’re doing our best to provide the best quality products and this takes a lot of time, care and commitment.
Cancellations: We only have a small staff to fill and process orders for delivery. This means we have to organize our weeks carefully to ensure your order is delivered on-time. We have an order deadline of Sunday night at midnight for delivery the following Friday. This is also the deadline to make any changes to your order, including cancellations. If you want to cancel your order after this deadline, and we’ve already filled it, we reserve the right to charge a 15% restocking fee to cover our time and resources. We reserve the right to decide who is charged a fee and this will be determined on a case by case basis. If we’ve already charged your credit card, you’ll be refunded the charged amount less the re-stocking fees.
Pricing and Payment: All prices are listed in Canadian dollars. We reserve the right to change the prices on our website at any time without notice. TK Ranch accepts Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and Discover. When you place your order we don’t charge your credit card immediately, it will remain pending on your statement until after we have filled your order. By doing this we can edit your invoice to add items (by your request) or remove items (by your request or if they’re out of stock) or amend the delivery fees when required.
Sales Tax & Duties: There are no taxes charged on meat products. If you are charged fees for cancellation related issues or for storage, GST applies. These will be billed separately and you will receive a full breakdown on your invoice accordingly.
Shipping: We use a small local courier to deliver to several Alberta communities every Friday. You can see a list of the communities we deliver to on our Deliveries page. All delivery fees are subject to GST and this will be listed on your invoice.
